Lee Sang-yong passed away at the age of 81 after collapsing at a nearby hospital due to a cold. Lee made his debut as a host on BS Christian Broadcasting in 1971 and gained fame in 1975 while hosting the KBS children's singing program 'Let's Sing Together' (모이자 노래하자), where he earned the nickname 'Popeye.' He became a beloved figure through his role as a host on MBC's military support program 'Stage of Friendship' (우정의 무대) starting in 1989, where he was cherished by military personnel and their families. Additionally, he was known for his philanthropic efforts, supporting over 560 children suffering from heart disease, helping them find new hope.
