Lyn Opens Up About Struggles with Negative Comments After Marriage to Lee Soo

Singer Lyn has shared her feelings about the challenges she faced due to negative comments following her marriage to Lee Soo. In a recent video on the YouTube channel 'PD's C', titled "Lyn, Finding Freedom from People's Eyes!", she discussed how her experiences changed after tying the knot.
Lyn expressed, "I wouldn't call it pain, but since getting married, I've felt a bit of that. I'm okay, but people create their own narratives based on the songs I sing. I think it's necessary for a singer. After marriage, I've been intentionally avoiding very sad songs and trying not to sing love songs too much."
She further elaborated, "Now, I want to communicate through music rather than words. We've been together for ten years, and I wanted to symbolically release music to show how well we're doing. I feel like I need to become someone who speaks through music more and more," referencing her recent duet project album with Lee Soo.
When asked if she was aiming for a soju advertisement, Lyn humorously replied, "Soju ad? Should I? I don't have a good image for that." She continued, "I enjoy what I do, but people say it doesn't feel genuine. They think I'm pretending to be cheerful, calling me superficial. My songs are serious, but I seem lighthearted, which creates a gap. I've often been told to just sing."
Reflecting on her marriage, Lyn acknowledged, "I think it became a bit harder after getting married. I was a prime target for criticism. My social media was under scrutiny, and anything I posted would lead to articles like that. It made me afraid to express myself."
She recounted, "People would say, 'Then just don't use social media,' but I didn't want to. Why should I? I just want to document my life. My fans will see it too. I had this strange stubbornness. My husband always endures this with me, so I feel sorry and uncomfortable for him, which sometimes makes me feel guilty."
Lyn also mentioned her past confrontations with netizens, recalling a significant incident in 2019 when she defended Lee Soo against criticism related to his past legal issues. She stated, "I just wanted to clarify what wasn't true, but looking back, I think I wanted to fight and win. That wasn't helpful for either of us. Now, I realize that was wrong, and I've learned to stop and stay quiet. Time really does heal. I feel much more at peace now."
She added, "Now, I don't feel uncomfortable discussing these topics. In the past, I worried that talking about them might bring backlash to my husband. But I think I understand the feelings of those who dislike me. I know to focus on the positive and move forward with those who support me, which is why I feel at ease."
Lyn and Lee Soo have been publicly dating for nearly two years before tying the knot in September 2014.
