Lovelyz's Kei to Release First Solo Single in Five Years

Kei, the main vocalist of Lovelyz, is set to release her first solo track in five years. The digital single titled 'Winter Garden' (윈터 가든) will be unveiled on December 19 at 6 PM KST. This marks her return to solo music since her mini-album 'Over and Over' (오버 앤 오버) in October 2019. Although she has showcased her vocal talents through various drama and musical OSTs, this will be her first opportunity to present her own music to the public in a long time.

'Winter Garden' is an R&B ballad that highlights Kei's sweet and delicate voice. The song features a minimalistic soundscape created with warm strings and piano, allowing her vocals to paint a picture of a clear winter landscape covered in white snow.

The track was composed by the production team Monotree's HOLLIN, Frankie Day from Team The Hub, and Ayushy, with lyrics co-written by Monotree's pdly, 9june9, and Kei herself. The lyrics convey a message of warmth, suggesting that beautiful memories and hopes for tomorrow can melt our hearts even in the frozen stillness of winter.

Notably, the sound supervisor for the track is Yoon Sang, often referred to as the 'father of Lovelyz,' which ensures a blend of Kei's unique charm as a solo artist with her established vocal prowess from her time with the group. Kei's agency, A2Z Entertainment, expressed hopes that listeners will share the warmth encapsulated in the song this winter.

Throughout 2024, Kei has been active as a musical actress, performing in productions such as 'Notre-Dame de Paris' and 'Your Lie in April' (4월은 너의 거짓말). Additionally, she successfully held four solo concerts in Seoul, Macau, and Taiwan as part of her activities with Lovelyz.
