Lizzy Remembers Late Actress Kim Sae-ron with Chrysanthemum Photo
Former After School member Lizzy shared a poignant tribute to the late actress Kim Sae-ron by posting a photo of chrysanthemums on her Instagram story on February 17. Although there was no accompanying message, it is interpreted as a memorial for Kim, who tragically ended her life at the age of 25. Fellow celebrities have been expressing their condolences following the shocking news.
According to the Seongdong Police Station, Kim Sae-ron was found collapsed at her home on February 16. A friend discovered her and reported the incident, but unfortunately, Kim had already taken her own life. Her funeral is set to take place at the Asan Medical Center in Seoul, with the burial scheduled for February 19 at 6:20 AM.
Kim made her acting debut at the age of 9 in the film "The Traveler" on October 29, 2009, after overcoming a competitive selection process with odds of 1,000 to 1. She quickly gained recognition, winning several Best New Actress awards at various film festivals, including the Buil Film Awards. Her rise to fame continued when she starred alongside Won Bin in the 2010 film "The Man from Nowhere."
However, her career faced a significant setback in May 2022 when she was involved in a drunk driving incident, which led to public backlash. After spending over two years in self-reflection, she was in the process of filming the movie "Guitar Man," set to be released in May, but tragically passed away before its premiere. She had even changed her name to Kim Aim in hopes of making a comeback.
Lizzy herself has faced criticism in the past due to a drunk driving incident in May 2021, where she crashed into a taxi. Fortunately, there were no injuries as she was alone in her vehicle and the taxi had no passengers. Despite this, she was charged due to her blood alcohol level being above the legal limit.
Lizzy expressed her pain over the sensationalized media coverage of her incident, stating, "The driver wasn’t hurt that badly, yet the articles made it seem like I was trying to kill someone." She also reflected on the struggles people face, saying, "Everyone goes through tough times, and right now, it feels like people are being pushed to make extreme choices. I know I made mistakes, and I am truly sorry for them."
