Lim Young-woong Responds to Controversial DM Amid Political Turmoil

Singer Lim Young-woong has sparked discussions online after a direct message (DM) allegedly sent by him surfaced in an online community. On December 7, Lim celebrated his dog Si-wool's birthday on Instagram, sharing a heartfelt post. However, the same day, a user claimed to have messaged Lim, asking, "What are you doing in this situation?" to which Lim reportedly replied, "What?". The user then expressed disappointment, stating, "With the impeachment of a president who declared martial law, the whole nation is gathered, and while I don't expect you to speak out, it's quite insensitive. Aren't people of your age group the ones who experienced the previous martial law?". Lim's alleged response was, "Am I a politician? Why should I speak out?" This exchange has led to a divided reaction among netizens. While some criticize Lim for posting about his personal life during a serious political moment, others defend his right to remain apolitical. Questions about the authenticity of the DM have also arisen, with additional claims from other users stating they were blocked after messaging Lim. Meanwhile, Lim Young-woong is set to hold his solo concert, 'Lim Young-woong Recital', at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul from December 27 to January 4.
