Singer Lim Young-woong has found himself at the center of controversy following a direct message (DM) exchange with a netizen during a politically charged time in South Korea. His agency, Fish Music, has not responded to inquiries regarding the incident.

On December 7, Lim celebrated his dog Siwol's birthday on his personal social media, posting a heartfelt message along with a cute photo of himself wearing matching pink heart-shaped sunglasses with his pet. While the post itself was innocuous, a netizen claimed to have shared a DM conversation with Lim on the same day.

In the alleged exchange, the netizen questioned Lim about his silence during a time of national unrest, specifically referencing the impeachment of the president who declared martial law. The netizen expressed disappointment, stating, "I don't expect you to speak out, but it's really insensitive. Aren't the people who experienced the last martial law your main audience?" Lim reportedly responded, "Am I a politician? Why should I speak out?" This reply sparked further debate among fans and netizens.

The authenticity of the DM has been called into question, as many celebrities do not check their DMs due to the overwhelming volume of messages they receive. OSEN attempted to reach out to Fish Music for clarification, but the agency has remained unresponsive.
