Legendary Trot Singer Song Dae-kwan Passes Away at 79

On February 7, 2025, renowned singer Song Dae-kwan (송대관) passed away at the age of 79. He was rushed to the emergency room at Seoul National University Hospital early in the morning after complaining of pain, but unfortunately, he succumbed to a heart attack.

Song had been battling chronic health issues and had undergone three surgeries, yet his passion for performing kept him active in the music scene. His funeral will be held at the funeral hall of Seoul National University Hospital.

Debuting in 1967 with the hit song 'Injeong Manheun Ajeossi' (인정 많은 아저씨), Song gained widespread popularity with his 1975 hit 'Haetdeulnal' (해뜰날). He went on to release numerous hits such as 'Ne Bakja' (네박자), 'Yuhyeongga' (유행가), and 'Chapyohan Jang' (차표한장), earning him the title of one of the 'Four Kings of Trot' alongside fellow artists Tae Jin-ah (태진아), Hyun Chul (현철), and Seol Woon-do (설운도).
