Legendary Singer Cho Yong-pil to Hold Free Solo Concert

Renowned singer Cho Yong-pil (조용필), often referred to as the 'King of Song' (가왕), is set to host a solo concert with free admission for all attendees. According to KBS, the concert titled '80th Anniversary of Liberation: KBS Special Project - Forever This Moment with Cho Yong-pil' will take place on September 6 at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul.

This performance marks Cho's first solo stage with KBS in 28 years since his 'Big Show' in 1997, and it is also his first solo appearance on terrestrial television in 17 years.

Cho Yong-pil is a living legend in the Korean music industry, having achieved milestones such as being the first artist in Korea to have a million-selling album and surpassing 10 million total album sales.

KBS reportedly made significant efforts over several years to secure this performance, as Cho is known for rarely appearing on broadcast shows. The concert will be aired on KBS 2TV during the Chuseok holiday period.

KBS expressed their excitement, stating, 'We are thrilled to present Cho Yong-pil's special stage to the public, and we consider it a great honor as a public broadcaster.'

The announcement of Cho's concert has sparked enthusiastic reactions online, with many netizens expressing their determination to secure tickets for their parents. Since 2020, KBS has organized special performances for the Chuseok holiday featuring artists like Na Hoon-a, Shim Soo-bong, Im Young-woong, g.o.d, and Park Jin-young. Ticketing for these events has typically involved a combination of story-based lotteries and first-come, first-served methods. In a previous concert, g.o.d attracted over 20,000 attendees and noted that ticket sales concluded in just three minutes.
