Lee Soo-kyung Shares Experience of Being Cut from a Drama on 'Solo Because'

On the March 18 episode of SBS Plus and E Channel's variety show 'Solo Because' (솔로라서), Lee Soo-kyung opened up about her painful experience of being forced to leave a drama. Fellow guest Jang Seo-hee, who debuted as a child actress, reminisced about her early career, stating, "I became a finalist in a beautiful children's contest and debuted at 11 alongside the late Kim Ja-ok in an advertisement." Jang Seo-hee also shared her fondness for Yangyang in Gangwon Province, saying, "I often come here because Sokcho and Yangyang give me good energy. I filmed 'The Temptation of Wife' here, which became a huge hit, leading to many positive developments in my career."
Jang Seo-hee candidly discussed the emotional struggles she faced after being cast in 'Mermaid Lady' (인어아가씨). She mentioned, "I persevered out of stubbornness, and thinking about those who had wronged me during the revenge drama helped me perform better." When asked about the nature of her wounds, she recalled, "When I first took on the lead role in 'Mermaid Lady,' daily dramas were so influential that they could even affect news programming. Everyone was surprised that I was cast as the lead during that time when the three major broadcasting networks were paying close attention."
Lee Soo-kyung resonated with her story, revealing, "I was once cut from a shoot midway through. Back in the days of exclusive contracts with broadcasting companies, I politely declined an exclusive contract, and despite being the main character, I was suddenly written off, with my character going abroad in the story."
'Solo Because' (솔로라서) is a reality show that portrays the honest daily lives of charming singles who feel lonely yet happy being solo. The show airs every Tuesday at 8:40 PM.
