Lee Si-young Announces Pregnancy After Divorce

Actress Lee Si-young (이시영), 43, who announced her divorce in March, has revealed that she is currently pregnant with her ex-husband's child. On July 8, she took to social media to share the news, stating, "I am pregnant. I wanted to address this myself to prevent any misunderstandings or speculation in the future."

Lee explained that during her marriage, she underwent in vitro fertilization (IVF) to prepare for a second child. However, a significant amount of time passed without the embryo being implanted, leading to discussions about divorce.

As her legal matters were being finalized, she faced a deadline with the five-year storage limit of her frozen embryos. "I had to make a decision before the disposal date, and although my ex-husband did not agree, I chose to proceed with the implantation, taking full responsibility for my decision," she said.

She expressed her longing for a child and her inability to discard the embryos that were nearing their expiration. "I believe that despite the potential challenges ahead, my choice is the right one," she added.

Reflecting on her life, Lee stated, "The most precious thing in my life has always been my child. I am grateful for this new life and am experiencing a sense of peace and happiness like never before. I will live my life with deep responsibility to ensure my child lacks nothing, even as a single parent."

Lee Si-young gained fame through her roles in the KBS2 drama Boys Over Flowers (꽃보다 남자) and MBC's We Got Married (우리 결혼했어요). She married a businessman in the food industry in 2017 and has one son. Her agency, Ace Factory, confirmed on March 17 that the couple is amicably proceeding with their divorce, which Lee filed for earlier this year at the Seoul Family Court.
