Lee Seung-gi and Lee Da-in's Marriage Faces Public Scrutiny, But They Stand Strong

Lee Seung-gi has made a commendable choice in marrying Lee Da-in despite facing public opposition. Currently, he is focused on promoting his new film, 'The Big Family,' which is set to hit theaters on December 11. The film is a family comedy about a restaurant owner, played by Kim Yoon-seok, who unexpectedly finds himself living with his son's adorable children after his son, portrayed by Lee Seung-gi, becomes a monk.
This marks Lee Seung-gi's first film release since marrying Lee Da-in in April 2023. At the VIP screening of 'The Big Family' held on December 2 at Lotte Cinema World Tower in Songpa, Seoul, Lee Da-in showed her unwavering support for her husband, sharing photos on social media to express her love, even though she did not appear on the photo wall.
Lee Da-in's family was also present, with her sister and Lee Seung-gi's brother-in-law, Lee Yu-bi, sharing supportive posts from the screening. While both sisters have refrained from publicly endorsing Lee Seung-gi on broadcasts, they have not hidden their familial affection on social media.
Fans of Lee Seung-gi were initially vocal against his relationship with Lee Da-in when dating rumors surfaced in 2021, largely due to negative issues surrounding her father. This led the couple to maintain a low profile during their relationship.
Despite the challenges, Lee Seung-gi and Lee Da-in tied the knot in April 2023. After their wedding, Lee Seung-gi expressed on social media the pressures he faced from friends who advised him to end the relationship due to public perception, stating, "My wife did not choose her parents, so how could I end things over family issues?" He asked for understanding and support from fans.
The couple welcomed their first daughter in February, expanding their family. Now, with the full support of Lee Da-in's family, anticipation builds around how 'The Big Family' will be received by moviegoers. Directed by Yang Woo-seok, known for his successful films like 'The Attorney' and the 'Steel Rain' series, this film marks his return to directing after four years. Lee Seung-gi plays the role of Ham Moon-seok, the son of a traditional restaurant owner who decides to become a monk, marking a significant transformation in his career as he also shaved his head for the role.
