Lee Seung Hwan Extends Tour After Gumi Concert Cancellation

In a surprising turn of events, Lee Seung Hwan (이승환) has confirmed an extension of his tour following the forced cancellation of his concert in Gumi, just two days before the scheduled performance. On December 23, he announced, "After the news of the Gumi concert cancellation, I have received inquiries from various places about hosting performances. Therefore, I have decided to extend the HEAVEN tour until July instead of concluding it at the end of March. Thank you for your understanding."

Lee expressed his regret over the cancellation, stating, "I sincerely apologize to the audience in Gumi and hope to meet you at nearby venues."

The cancellation was officially communicated on December 23, with Lee's team stating, "We deeply apologize for the sudden cancellation of the 'Lee Seung Hwan 35th Anniversary Concert - Gumi' and for any inconvenience caused to the many fans who were looking forward to the event." They confirmed that ticket holders would receive full refunds.

Earlier that day, the Gumi city government issued an emergency statement announcing the cancellation of the concert, citing safety concerns over potential physical clashes between right-wing groups and concertgoers.

In response, Lee Seung Hwan took to social media to express his disappointment with the unilateral decision by the Gumi city officials, stating, "I will be pursuing legal action against the Gumi city government. The legal and financial responsibilities arising from this unjust cancellation should not fall on the taxpayers but on those who made this decision."

He further revealed that the true reason for the cancellation appeared to be a refusal to sign a document that prohibited political statements. He noted, "The Gumi city government had previously requested that I and my agency sign a pledge not to engage in political activities, threatening cancellation if we did not comply. This is unacceptable in a democratic country that values freedom of expression."
