Lee Seung Hwan Donates to Candlelight Vigil for President Yoon's Resignation

Singer Lee Seung Hwan (이승환) continues to express his convictions. On December 9, he posted on his social media, "Friday in Yeouido, it's not confirmed yet." He added, "I don't need any guarantee, but there must be a minimum sound system that I can accept based on my standards. As a sound enthusiast, I think I can demand that much," he joked.

Previously, Lee Seung Hwan had voiced his opinions regarding President Yoon's declaration of a state of emergency. On December 3, President Yoon announced the emergency from the Yongsan Presidential Office. Following the National Assembly's resolution to demand the lifting of the emergency, Lee's team announced, "We regret to inform you that the performance 'Like a Black-and-White Movie' scheduled for December 4 and 5 has been canceled. All tickets purchased will be fully refunded, and we will provide detailed procedures later."

On December 4 at around 6:30 AM, after just six hours, President Yoon lifted the emergency. In response, Lee Seung Hwan stated, "With the lifting of the emergency, 'Like a Black-and-White Movie' will proceed as planned. I apologize for the confusion. Today, I have a lot to say, and I look forward to meeting you with deeper stories and songs."

Lee's outspoken remarks came after ruling party lawmakers began to boycott the vote on President Yoon's impeachment. He criticized them, saying, "I saw how the members of the 'People Power Party' proudly act as accomplices to insurrection. Isn’t it nice? You can easily disregard the will of nearly 80% of democratic citizens who want the president impeached. You seem proud of your power to do so. You are not afraid of being historical criminals, and it seems you think, 'What will you do about it?' even as people are dying and livelihoods are in crisis."

Additionally, he shared on his social media, "This year, the annual event for the 'Defenseless People' has begun, a donation relay for children with leukemia called 'Hwan-tan-jeol.' I was moved by your kind hearts and decided to participate again, but I chose a different donation destination. I hope for impeachment this coming Saturday," confirming a donation of 12,130,000 KRW to the civic group Candlelight Action.
