Lee Min-woo Expresses Concern for His Parents' Health on 'Salim Nam'

On the January 4th episode of KBS 2TV's Salim Nam (살림하는 남자들), Lee Min-woo (이민우) showed his deep concern for his mother's declining health. After noticing that there was no rice in the rice cooker, he went to check on his mother, who was resting in the living room. Known for her dedication to cooking, she even uses two rice cookers to prepare meals for her son, who typically doesn't eat plain white rice.
However, when Lee Min-woo brought up the topic of meals, his mother snapped back, saying, "Am I the one who cooks for you?" and urged him not to bother her. His father then revealed that his wife had not been eating well for several days and was feeling weak.
When his mother finally got up, Lee Min-woo asked if she had taken her medication, to which she responded, "Don't nag me," leaving him visibly upset. He shared that his mother had been in a wheelchair for a year following knee surgery and had been diagnosed with lung cancer and early-stage dementia two years ago. Additionally, his father had previously suffered from a myocardial infarction.
Lee Min-woo expressed his despair, stating, "I feel helpless as there's nothing I can do about my parents' deteriorating health." Fellow cast member Baek Ji-young (백지영) empathized, acknowledging that with their medical history, it's understandable for him to be worried.
Towards the end of the episode, when Lee Min-woo suggested that the family go for health check-ups together, his mother declined, saying, "I know my body best. It's just a cold. I'm in pain because it's my time to go, so let those who will live long go for check-ups. If your life is short, you should die quickly," which evoked a sense of sadness among viewers.
