Lee Min-ho Reveals Casting Story for Boys Over Flowers
On December 25, actor Lee Min-ho shared insights about his casting for the iconic drama Boys Over Flowers during his guest appearance on tvN's You Quiz on the Block. In a pre-broadcast clip released by the show, host Yoo Jae-suk reminisced about Lee's early career, asking if he was known simply as 'Lee Min' at the time. Lee confirmed, explaining that he had dropped the 'ho' from his name.
Yoo then presented an old signature of Lee's, which had 'Lee Min' with the 'ho' crossed out. Lee, appearing slightly embarrassed, acknowledged that he remembered it. Yoo speculated that Lee had initially written 'Lee Min-ho' but quickly erased the 'ho'. Lee reflected, 'I think this was my first signature. I did it without thinking and then realized, 'Oh, I’m Lee Min.'
Yoo also brought up the immense popularity of Boys Over Flowers, asking if Lee had intentionally styled his hair in curls for the audition. Lee revealed that he indeed went to the audition with that hairstyle, expressing his ambition to land the lead role of Goo Jun-pyo. When asked about the reaction to his audition, Lee admitted that he felt a bit overwhelmed and ended up crying alone in a corner, saying, 'I sobbed quietly, without anyone knowing.' Yoo was impressed by Lee's candidness, further piquing interest in his journey.
Fans can catch Lee Min-ho on tvN's You Quiz on the Block, airing at 8:45 PM on December 25.
