Lee Min-ho and Gong Hyo-jin Share Their Thoughts on 'Ask the Stars'

On December 18, a press conference for the new tvN drama 'Ask the Stars' (별들에게 물어봐) took place at The Saint Grand Ballroom in Sindorim, Seoul. The event featured director Park Shin-woo and cast members Lee Min-ho (이민호), Gong Hyo-jin (공효진), Oh Jung-se (오정세), and Han Ji-eun (한지은).

'Ask the Stars' tells the story of Eve (공효진), a boss working in a zero-gravity space station, and a mysterious visitor named Dinosaur (이민호), who has a secret mission. The pairing of Lee Min-ho and Gong Hyo-jin has generated significant buzz even before the show's premiere.

Lee Min-ho expressed his excitement, stating, "It feels like we met later than expected. It was a wonderful experience to share the screen with her and breathe together in a place without air." He praised Gong Hyo-jin, saying, "She is a lovely person who embodies consideration and respect, making it easy to feel comfortable and perform beyond 100%. I was happy to work with her."

Gong Hyo-jin shared her perspective on Lee Min-ho, noting, "He’s not an actor who goes out much. I haven’t met many actors who are close to him. I thought he might be prickly, but he’s actually someone who thinks deeply. It was surprising to see how much he contemplates, to the point of losing sleep over it. He appears carefree, but he’s quite the opposite, often reflecting on different aspects of the work."

She continued, "He’s a smart person. While he is an actor, he also brings a lot of intelligent ideas to the creative process. We had a challenging scene that involved the three of us, which we filmed for two to three months with foreign actor Alex. We often joked about how lonely and bored we felt waiting for Oh Jung-se to join us. We struggled a lot during those scenes, adapting to the zero-gravity acting and questioning if we were doing it right."

Gong Hyo-jin recalled their morning discussions with Lee Min-ho and the director, often wondering, "How are we going to do this today? Is this really coming together?" She mentioned the camaraderie they developed, saying, "There’s a sense of brotherhood, but he also feels like a younger brother who doesn’t always listen. It’s all in good fun, and I often found myself nagging him."

'Ask the Stars' is set to premiere on January 4, 2025, at 9:20 PM.
