Lee Kyung-kyu Opens Up About Heart Attack Experience on SBS Show

On December 29, SBS's <이경규의 경이로운 습관> (Lee Kyung-kyu's Amazing Habits) will delve into the rising fears of sudden cardiac death, especially during colder weather. During the episode, the beloved MC Lee Kyung-kyu shared a shocking revelation about his own health scare, stating, "I have a firm grip on my vascular health," before admitting, "I have been on the brink of sudden death." This confession stems from his experience in 2013 when he underwent a stent procedure due to symptoms of a heart attack. Even after 11 years, he still harbors fears of a recurrence.

When co-host Lee Yoon-ah asked if he was okay, noting his fluctuating temperament, Lee Kyung-kyu quickly dismissed the connection, saying, "It has nothing to do with my personality." However, a cardiologist present during the recording humorously pointed out that individuals with a hasty temperament often face higher risks of cardiovascular diseases, eliciting laughter from the audience.

The show will also feature footage of Lee Kyung-kyu's blocked arteries during his heart attack, prompting him to quip, "This is what you call self-sacrifice." Despite suffering severe chest pain from the heart attack, Lee Kyung-kyu completed filming for a segment of '붕어빵' (Bungeoppang) before heading to the hospital for treatment. Reflecting on that time, he mentioned that it was more challenging to keep the children quiet than to deal with his own pain.

A neurologist explained that a blood clot can expand and block an artery in just 20 seconds, leading Lee Kyung-kyu to humorously lament the title of his own show, '복수혈전' (Revenge of Blood Clots), questioning if the title was a bad omen for his health.
