Lee Jung-jae Expresses Confidence in 'Squid Game Season 2' on The Tonight Show

On December 18, actor Lee Jung-jae appeared on NBC's The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, showcasing his confidence regarding the upcoming season of the hit Netflix series, Squid Game (오징어 게임). In a video shared on the show's official YouTube channel, Lee engaged in a lively discussion with host Jimmy Fallon about the series.

Previously, Lee had joined fellow Squid Game cast members Park Hae-soo, Jung Ho-yeon, and Wi Ha-jun via video call on the same show. Fallon reminisced about their last meeting, which took place over Zoom just before the series premiered, noting that Squid Game has since become Netflix's most-watched series, surpassing even Stranger Things.

Fallon celebrated Lee's Emmy win for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, sharing a photo from the awards ceremony. He praised Lee's performance, expressing how deeply he felt for Lee's character during the show. When asked about his Emmy experience, Lee reflected, "It was such an overwhelming day, especially since I was there with director Hwang Dong-hyuk. Just thinking about it makes my heart race. It was an unimaginable day." He humorously added that his Emmy trophy is displayed prominently in his living room.

Fallon also inquired about Lee's journey into acting. Lee revealed that he initially aimed to work in interior design while working part-time at a café. He received a modeling offer that paid better than his café job, which eventually led to his casting as an actor. "I thought I would just do it for a short time to save some money, never imagining I would still be doing this and even appearing on The Tonight Show," he shared, expressing his gratitude.

As the conversation turned to Squid Game Season 2, which is set to premiere on December 26, Lee mentioned that he is actively promoting the series from Los Angeles to New York. He joked about taking a break on Christmas Day to rest before binge-watching the new season. Lee admitted feeling pressure due to the immense success of Season 1 but reassured fans that the story has become richer and more diverse. "Many people will die again, and I will do my best to survive," he teased, building anticipation for the new season.

Squid Game Season 2 will follow the story of Seong Gi-hun (이정재), who returns seeking revenge. All episodes will be available on Netflix starting December 26.
