Lee Jong-suk and IU's Relationship Remains Strong Amid Breakup Rumors

As of May 20, 2025, reports confirm that singer and actress IU (아이유) and actor Lee Jong-suk (이종석) are still in a romantic relationship. Sources close to the couple have dismissed recent breakup rumors, stating, "They are still seeing each other well."
The couple officially acknowledged their relationship in December 2022 and has been nurturing their love for over three years. They have maintained a low-key public romance, often indirectly referencing each other at events, with Lee Jong-suk even attending IU's concerts.
In a recent interview for '폭싹 속았수다', IU commented on her boyfriend's busy schedule, saying, "He is really busy, so I think he probably hasn't seen it. I know he is very busy." She added, "Today is the last promotion for '폭싹', so I only know about that. Maybe tomorrow I can talk about my boyfriend."
However, speculation about their relationship resurfaced when IU celebrated her birthday on May 16, not with Lee Jong-suk, but with BTS's V (뷔) and her close friend Kang Han-na (강한나). Eyewitnesses reported seeing IU and V dining together at a high-end restaurant in Yongsan, Seoul, known as 'Mosu Seoul', run by chef Ahn Sung-jae, who gained fame from the Netflix show 'Chef's Table'.
Despite the initial concerns, it was clarified that the gathering was not a date but a casual meal with friends, including singer Lim Seul-ong (임슬옹). The group consisted of four people, including IU, V, Lim Seul-ong, and a female friend.
Additionally, Lee Jong-suk is preparing for long overseas shoots for his upcoming project 'Re-married Empress' (재혼 황후), which may lead to a long-distance relationship for the couple. While some fans expressed worries about their relationship, insiders have reassured that their bond remains strong.
IU is set to release her third remake album '꽃갈피 셋' on May 27, while Lee Jong-suk is gearing up for the new tvN drama 'Seocho-dong', which will air in July, followed by filming for 'Re-married Empress'.
