Lee Jong-beom Leaves KT to Join Entertainment Show

Lee Jong-beom, known as the 'Son of the Wind,' has departed from his coaching position with the KT Wiz during the ongoing KBO season to join the cast of a variety show. On June 27, KT announced that Lee would be removed from the first-team roster ahead of their away game against Lotte in Busan.
Lee has reportedly joined the upcoming season of JTBC's variety program, 'Choi Kang Baseball.' He initially joined KT in October of last year as an outfield and base-running coach, later transitioning to hitting coach in May. However, he has chosen to leave the team before the first half of the season concludes. Currently, KT holds a record of 38 wins, 36 losses, and 3 ties, placing them seventh in the league as they compete fiercely for a spot in the postseason.
During his playing career, Lee was a superstar in the KBO, earning the nickname 'Son of the Wind' while playing for Haitai (now KIA). His impressive stats include 1,706 games played, a batting average of .297, 194 home runs, 730 RBIs, and 510 stolen bases. After retiring, he has taken on various roles, including national team coach and commentator for LG Broadcasting.
A KT official stated, 'Lee Jong-beom requested to resign to join the 'Choi Kang Baseball' as a director. The club accepted his request after discussions with the coaching staff, and there will be no significant impact on the team's performance due to his absence.'
