Lee Jae-myung Elected as President of South Korea

The results of the June 3 presidential election have confirmed Lee Jae-myung (이재명) of the Democratic Party as the 21st President of South Korea. According to the National Election Commission, as of 5 AM on June 4, Lee secured 49.42% of the votes, while Kim Moon-soo (김문수) of the People Power Party received 41.15%. Other candidates included Lee Jun-seok (이준석) of the Reform Party with 8.34% and Kwon Young-guk (권영국) of the Democratic Labor Party with 0.98%.

Lee is scheduled to hold his inauguration ceremony at the National Assembly's Rotunda at 11 AM on the same day. The event will be brief and primarily focused on the oath-taking, omitting traditional ceremonies such as the Bosingak bell-ringing, military band parades, and cannon salutes. Attendance will be limited to around 300 guests, including high-ranking officials, representatives from various political and religious sectors, and cabinet members.

Lee's term officially begins at the moment when the National Election Commission Chairman Noh Tae-ack (노태악) announces the decision on the president-elect, which is expected to occur between 7 and 9 AM. Following this, Lee will receive a report on military readiness and transfer of command from Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Kim Myung-soo (김명수).
