Lee Jae-myung Calls for Support in Final Campaign Rally Ahead of Presidential Election

On June 2, a day before the presidential election, Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party of Korea's candidate, held his final campaign rally at the Culture Square in Yeouido Park, Seoul. He urged citizens to support him, stating, "June 3 will be the day we completely end the insurrection through voting." Lee emphasized that Yeouido is a historic site where the darkness of insurrection was driven away by the light of democracy, declaring, "We will complete the revolution of light that began in Yeouido."

Lee noted that this day marks exactly six months since the illegal state of emergency was declared, and he described the following day as a pivotal moment that will determine the fate of South Korea. He warned that if the forces of insurrection prevail in the election, former President Yoon Suk-yeol could re-emerge as a powerful figure. He stated, "The choice we make tomorrow will decide whether we end the insurrection or allow it to continue, whether we restore livelihoods or face economic collapse. The fate of South Korea will be determined tomorrow."

In his speech, Lee promised that if given the opportunity to govern, he would prioritize reviving the economy, including stimulating domestic demand. He pledged to establish an emergency economic response task force led by the president to implement both short-term and long-term economic strategies. He assured voters that they would feel the positive impact of a Democratic administration through supplementary budgets and stock market stabilization.

Before the Yeouido rally, Lee visited various districts in northern and western Seoul, as well as cities in Gyeonggi Province. He emphasized his commitment to uniting the nation, stating, "As president, I will never divide the people. Even if I am elected with the support of the blue camp, I will not exclude those who prefer the red camp."

Lee also expressed his pragmatic approach to the economy, questioning the need for ideology in economic matters. He stated, "If it makes money and is necessary, we will do it." He assured that he would take strict measures against any illegal activities that disrupt the stock market, promising to expedite amendments to corporate laws to prevent manipulation.

In a Facebook post, Lee declared his intention to create a 'basic society' where the state takes responsibility for the fundamental lives of its citizens. He held a press conference at a community church in Seongnam, where he began his political journey after hiding there during a legal issue in 2004. He reiterated his commitment to transforming South Korea as he did in Seongnam and Gyeonggi Province.
