Lee Jae-myung Calls for Accountability Over Comment Manipulation Controversy

Lee Jae-myung, the presidential candidate from the Democratic Party of Korea, addressed the controversy surrounding writer Yoo Si-min's derogatory remarks about women and workers. He stated that while Yoo's comments appeared inappropriate, he believed the public might forgive him since he has issued an apology.
During a rally in Cheongju on May 31, Lee expressed his concerns about Yoo's recent criticism of Kim Moon-soo's wife, Seol Nan-young, suggesting that she was unfit for the role of a presidential candidate's spouse. Lee noted that Yoo's comments seemed to stem from Seol's previous disparaging remarks about women and labor movements.
In response to allegations that a conservative group named 'Rebox School' created a team to manipulate online comments and sway public opinion, Lee emphasized the need for a thorough investigation. He insisted that the truth must be uncovered down to the last detail and that those responsible should face strict consequences, akin to charges of insurrection, to deter future manipulation attempts.
Lee further asserted that the Rebox School's actions appeared to be systematic and linked to the People Power Party. He has instructed his campaign team to take all necessary measures to uncover the truth and will continue to do so moving forward.
When asked about how he would establish the relationship between the party and the government if elected, Lee remarked that if the public grants the Democratic Party a majority, it would be a call to swiftly overcome the current irregularities. He emphasized the importance of utilizing the majority in the National Assembly and administrative power to fulfill the people's desires.
