Lee Jae-myung Acquitted in Perjury Case

On November 25, 2024, Lee Jae-myung (이재명), the leader of the Democratic Party of Korea (더불어민주당), was found not guilty in the first trial regarding a perjury case. This verdict comes one year and one month after he was indicted without detention in October 2023.
Previously, on November 15, Lee received a one-year prison sentence with a two-year probation for violating the Public Official Election Act. However, just ten days later, he was relieved by the not guilty ruling in the perjury case, allowing him to breathe a sigh of relief. Lee is currently facing five trials with a total of twelve charges across eight different cases, marking the second first-instance verdict he has received.
