Lee Ha-neul Shares Honest Thoughts on G-Dragon's New Song 'Power'

Lee Ha-neul recently expressed his candid opinions about G-Dragon's new track, 'Power,' which marks the artist's return after a seven-year hiatus. In a video titled "Directly from the Time Capsule Concert" uploaded on November 24 to his YouTube channel 'Lee Ha-neul's Yes Show' (이하늘의 예쎄쑈), he discussed the significance of releasing new music at the end of the year.
He remarked, "Releasing a new song at year-end is meaningless. The real masterstroke would have been to drop it earlier; it could have been a huge hit, like the success of 'Gangnam Style.'" He specifically referenced Rosé's song 'APT.' as an example of a major hit.
Reflecting on the timing of his own releases, Lee Ha-neul noted, "I haven't even listened to the current music from other artists. In a way, it feels like a blessing in disguise that I avoided the competition."
When it came to G-Dragon's new single, he stated, "I respect GD, but this new song is below my expectations." He continued, "I really enjoy GD's previous works, but this one doesn't resonate with me. It's not that GD is bad; it's just that our styles differ."
G-Dragon released 'Power' on October 31, breaking his long hiatus. The song quickly climbed to the top of major South Korean music charts, including Melon, Genie, Bugs, and Vibe, upon its release.
