Lee Ha-nee Wins Seven Awards for 'Flowers Blooming at Night'

Actress Lee Ha-nee has achieved remarkable success, winning a total of seven awards at prestigious domestic ceremonies for her role in the drama 'Flowers Blooming at Night' (밤에 피는 꽃). Portraying Jo Yeo-hwa, a widow who dons a mask to rescue the powerless in a Joseon-era hero story, Lee captivated audiences with her versatile performance that encompassed action, comedy, and romance. The drama recorded an impressive peak viewership rating of 18.4%, setting a new record for MBC's Friday-Saturday dramas.

Among her accolades, Lee received her first Grand Prize at the 15th Korea Drama Awards held in October 2024 at the Gyeongnam Culture and Arts Center. In her acceptance speech, she reflected on her journey, stating, "Starting as Miss Korea, I faced many prejudices. Winning this award is not because I am special, but because I persevered. I believe it is a message of encouragement that I am doing well. I am still a work in progress as an actress, and I will strive to improve further."

In addition to the Grand Prize, Lee Ha-nee also won the Best Actress award at the 60th Baeksang Arts Awards, the Bechdelian Actress Award at the 2024 Baekdel Day, the Viewer’s Choice Award at the 29th Consumer Day KCA Cultural and Entertainment Awards, the Best Acting Award at the 32nd Korea Cultural and Entertainment Awards, and the Best Actress in a Mid-Length Drama at the 2024 SEOULCON APAN STAR AWARDS. She capped off her winning streak by securing the Best Actress trophy at the 2024 MBC Acting Awards on January 5.

Lee Ha-nee previously won the Rookie Award at the 2011 MBC Acting Awards and the Best Acting Award in 2017 for her role in 'Rebel: Thief Who Stole the People' (역적: 백성을 훔친 도적). After receiving the Best Actress award for 'Flowers Blooming at Night', she shared a motivational message, saying, "I have often felt there are more reasons I can't succeed than reasons I can. After enduring for about ten years, I have gained strengths, and the world has changed. For those pursuing their dreams, I encourage you not to stop and to keep going until the end."

Following her success in 'Flowers Blooming at Night', Lee Ha-nee continued to shine in the second season of SBS's 'The Fiery Priest' (열혈사제2), where she portrayed the dynamic prosecutor Park Kyung-seon, solidifying her status as the 'irreplaceable queen of comic action'. She is set to continue her busy schedule with various projects this year.
