Lee Dong-wook and Jung Ho-yeon Part Ways After 9 Years, Focus on Upcoming Projects

Actors Lee Dong-wook (이동휘) and Jung Ho-yeon (정호연) have officially ended their relationship after nine years together. Both stars are expected to channel their heartbreak into their work as they continue to pursue their careers.

On November 26, representatives from Lee Dong-wook's agency Companion and Jung Ho-yeon's agency People Entertainment confirmed to OSEN that the two actors have indeed parted ways. They added, however, that they would appreciate understanding regarding the specifics of the breakup, as it pertains to the actors' private lives. Both agencies emphasized that the two will continue to support each other as good colleagues.

Lee Dong-wook, born in 1985, and Jung Ho-yeon, born in 1994, began dating in late 2015, overcoming a nine-year age gap. They publicly acknowledged their relationship the following year and have been a beloved couple in the entertainment industry for nearly a decade. Following their split, attention is now on their upcoming projects.

Lee Dong-wook is set to appear in the play 'The Life of Others' (타인의 삶), which opens tomorrow, November 27. He will portray the character Bireul and is double-cast with fellow actor Yoon Nam-woo, showcasing different aspects of their characters on stage. This production marks Lee's debut in theater, generating significant anticipation.

Additionally, Lee will be featured in the new tvN variety show 'Finland Room Living' (핀란드 셋방살이), which premieres on December 4. This reality travel show depicts a 100% rustic local life in the Finnish countryside, following the adventures of actors Lee Je-hoon (이제훈), Lee Dong-wook, Kwak Dong-yeon (곽동연), and Cha Eun-woo (차은우) as they experience rural living together. The show has already piqued curiosity due to its unique premise and the star-studded cast.

Lee Dong-wook has also completed filming for the Disney+ original series 'Pine: Country Bumpkins' (파인: 촌뜨기들), adapted from the webtoon by acclaimed writer Yoon Tae-ho (윤태호), known for 'Misaeng' (미생). The series features a talented cast including Ryu Seung-ryong (류승룡), Yang Se-jong (양세종), and Lim Soo-jung (임수정), and is directed by Kang Yoon-sung (강윤성), who previously received acclaim for 'Casino' (카지노). Lee's collaboration with Kang Yoon-sung again promises to attract global audiences on Disney+.

While Lee Dong-wook is actively engaging in various domestic projects, Jung Ho-yeon is making strides in international cinema. She has recently completed filming for Na Hong-jin's (나홍진) new film 'Hope' (호프), which follows her previous successes in films like 'The Chaser' (추격자), 'The Wailing' (황해), and 'The Strangers' (곡성). Furthermore, she is set to star in the Hollywood project 'The Hole' (더 홀), directed by Kim Ji-woon (김지운), known for works such as 'The Good, the Bad, the Weird' (좋은 놈, 나쁜 놈, 이상한 놈) and 'A Bittersweet Life' (달콤한 인생).

Since her debut in the Netflix original series 'Squid Game' (오징어 게임), Jung Ho-yeon has captured a global fanbase with her remarkable performance, solidifying her status as a prominent figure in international entertainment. As 'Squid Game' became Netflix's biggest hit series, she remains an unforgettable heroine for fans worldwide, leading her to focus her future endeavors on the global stage.
