Lee Chan-won Wins Grand Prize at 2024 KBS Entertainment Awards

At the 2024 KBS Entertainment Awards held on December 21, singer Lee Chan-won was honored with the prestigious Grand Prize. Competing against notable nominees such as Kim Jong-min, Yoo Jae-suk, and Jeon Hyun-moo, Lee emerged victorious.

Yoo Jae-suk, one of the first nominees, expressed his surprise at being nominated after returning to KBS with 'Syncro You' after three years. He stated, "I found out I was a nominee through the news. I’m a bit confused about whether I deserve this nomination, but thank you for the invitation."

Jeon Hyun-moo, another nominee, humorously responded to a question about expectations for the award, saying, "While it’s possible to hope for the Grand Prize at this table, I think the Paris Olympics were nice, but it was too early. It would have been better around the Winter Olympics when the cold winds blow. If I win, it will be thanks to my 'Sadangui' family and athlete Park Hye-jung."

Both Kim Jong-min and Jeon Hyun-moo predicted Lee Chan-won would take home the Grand Prize. Kim remarked, "I won it last year, and I think Lee Chan-won will win this time," while Jeon added, "I believe Lee Chan-won will win. His fans are here in large numbers, and it’s clear he prepared a speech."

Lee Chan-won, known for his steady hosting on shows like 'Immortal Songs' and 'Pyeonstorang', did not disappoint expectations as he received the award. Overwhelmed with emotion, he approached the stage, visibly surprised.

Holding back tears, he expressed his heartfelt gratitude, saying, "I stepped into KBS 16 years ago through 'National Singing Contest' and have worked on many programs with KBS since 2020."

He also addressed comments about his busy schedule, stating, "People often ask why I do so much broadcasting instead of focusing solely on singing. I have loved variety shows and broadcasting since I was young, and I don’t think I can give that up. I will continue to grow and work with KBS in the future."
