Lee Chan-won Wins Big at the 2024 KBS Entertainment Awards

Trot singer and television personality Lee Chan-won expressed his gratitude with a smile despite comedian Byun Ki-soo's playful jab at the 2024 KBS Entertainment Awards. On December 21, Lee Chan-won took home both the 'Best Entertainer of the Year' and the grand prize at the ceremony, sharing his heartfelt thoughts on the achievement.

Reflecting on his journey, he stated, "I first stepped into KBS through the program 'National Singing Contest' in 2008 and debuted in 2020, participating in numerous KBS shows. Recently, I’ve heard comments questioning why a singer like me is so focused on broadcasting. However, I have loved television and entertainment since I was young, and I will never give up my path as a broadcaster and entertainer."

Following the awards, Lee took to his social media to express, "I received an undeserved and overwhelming award. I promise to continue bringing wholesome laughter and hope through KBS and my future broadcasts. I will not rest on my laurels and will work even harder!"

Known as the 'Son of KBS,' Lee Chan-won has had a remarkable year, appearing in five different programs including 'Immortal Songs,' 'High-End Salt Bae,' 'Chuseok Special Show: Lee Chan-won's Gift,' 'Newly Released Menu,' and 'Celeb's Secret.' He also hosted the KBS Entertainment Awards.

While some, including Byun Ki-soo, humorously remarked that the awards were favoring singers, many acknowledged Lee's impressive contributions, especially considering he is only 28 years old and in his sixth year since debut. His frequent appearances on KBS led to a strong public response, justifying the decision to award him the top honor.

Fellow entertainers congratulated Lee on his success. Jang Young-ran said, "Congratulations, Chan-won! You are truly amazing," while Jung Seung-jae exclaimed, "Wow, huge congratulations! Keep thriving, Lee Chan-won!" Other colleagues like Bae Yoon-jung, Hong Ji-min, and Geum Jan-di also sent their warm wishes.

Lee Chan-won is set to continue engaging with viewers through 'Immortal Songs,' 'Newly Released Menu,' and 'Celeb's Secret,' and will meet fans again on December 26 at the '2024 SBS Trot Championship.'
