Lee Changsub Emphasizes His Gentle Coaching Style on 'Universe League'

Lee Changsub has made it clear that he is not a strict coach, often referred to as a 'tiger coach.' During the press conference for SBS's new variety show 'Universe League' held on November 19 at the SBS building in Mokdong, Yangcheon, he stated, "I am not a tiger coach; I teach with love."

'Universe League' is the boy group version of the large-scale girl group audition program 'Universe Ticket.' Continuing from the previous season, PD Lee Hwan-jin is at the helm, aiming to discover the next generation of global boy group gems.

What sets this program apart is its league format, as indicated by its title. Unlike traditional audition shows where trainees compete individually, 'Universe League' features team competitions, which has already garnered attention. Three teams will participate, but only one will achieve their dream of debuting and performing on stages worldwide.

Notably, prominent K-pop artists will serve as team leaders, guiding their respective groups. Lee Changsub from BTOB, Yugyeom from GOT7, producer EL CAPITXN, and Ten and Yangyang from NCT/WayV will lead the teams named Rhythm, Groove, and Beat. They will select team members through a draft process and trade players to create the ultimate lineup.

The competition will be fierce as the coaches select their teams and battle against each other. With a deep affection for their juniors and a strong desire to win, the coaches' competitive spirits are sure to ignite.

As the coach of the Groove team, Lee Changsub remarked, "Each team has a distinct personality, and the genres are clearly different, which will make for an enjoyable viewing experience. Groove seems to focus more on the musical aspects that I pursue." He added, "I am not a tiger coach; I teach with love. Sometimes I wonder how I can teach these kids, but I strive to make my guidance easy to understand. The kids are following along well and are engaged in the process."

The dream match for these aspiring boys, 'Universe League,' is set to premiere on November 22 at 11:20 PM.
