Lee Chae Yeon Takes Legal Action Against Malicious Comments

Singer Lee Chae Yeon is set to take legal action against malicious comments stemming from her political beliefs. On December 23, her agency, WM Entertainment, announced their decision to pursue legal measures against online harassment and defamation.
WM Entertainment stated, "There have been ongoing malicious comments and slander against our artist Lee Chae Yeon on various online platforms and social media. This constitutes a serious crime that damages the artist's honor and dignity." They emphasized their commitment to monitoring and responding firmly to any malicious attacks, defamation, personal attacks, and the spread of false information.
The agency further declared, "We will take strong legal action against all illegal activities that occur in the future without leniency, and we will continue to do our best to protect the rights of our artist and support the fans who cheer for her."
Recently, Lee Chae Yeon expressed her views on the political discourse surrounding President Yoon Suk Yeol's declaration of a state of emergency and the impeachment vote, questioning the notion that celebrities should not engage in political discussions. She stated, "What position is deemed appropriate to talk about politics?"
In a heartfelt message to her fans, she added, "As a citizen, I will speak up. I appreciate your concern. Let's strive to live in a better world and love freely in such a world."
Lee Chae Yeon debuted as a member of the project group IZ*ONE, formed through the Mnet survival show 'Produce 48'. She is also the older sister of Chaeryeong from the girl group ITZY.
