Lara from K-Pop Group Cats Eye Comes Out as LGBTQ+

Lara, a member of the American-based K-pop group Cats Eye under HYBE, publicly came out on March 24 through the fan communication platform Weverse. In a heartfelt voice message, she expressed discomfort with how society often trivializes or fetishizes women loving women, acknowledging that coming out can be a daunting experience.

She shared her own coming out story, revealing that as a person of color, she faced additional fears about acceptance. Lara expressed gratitude for the support from her friends and fans, stating, "I am proud of who I am, and this is a part of me that I cherish."

In a follow-up text message, she reflected on realizing her bisexuality at the age of eight, saying, "I was already aware that I was somewhat of a 'fruitcake' back then, and I was attracted to a variety of people."

Lara recalled her time on the audition program 'Dream Academy,' admitting she was scared about how people would react to her identity, fearing it might jeopardize her chances of success. However, she received overwhelming love and support from fans, which helped her embrace her true self.

Cats Eye, formed through the survival audition show 'The Debut: Dream Academy,' is a six-member multinational girl group that debuted in August 2024 with their EP 'SIS.' Their title track 'Touch' has already surpassed 100 million streams on Spotify. The group is set to perform at Lollapalooza Chicago from July 31 to August 3, 2025. Lara, born in India in 2005, serves as the main vocalist of the group.
