Kwon Sang-woo Reveals Shocking Surgery Story on 'Jjanhan Hyung'

In a recent episode of 'Jjanhan Hyung' (짠한형), Kwon Sang-woo made a surprising revelation about undergoing a significant surgery. The episode, titled 'Kwon Sang-woo, Lee Yi-kyung, and Hwang Woo-seul-hye {Jjanhan Hyung} EP. 76: Chaotic Drunken Teamwork! Who Will Leave First?!', was released on January 20, 2025.
During the show, when asked about his debut story, Kwon reminisced about a day when his mother came to pick him up from a café while he was pursuing acting in Seoul after studying art education. He humorously recalled, "It was like a scene from a drama, where my senior, Yoo Dong-keun, was having a meeting nearby. I told my mother I would try acting one more time before going back to school, and now she always asks me, 'What if you had listened to me?'"
Kwon Sang-woo described the film 'Hitman' as the third act of his acting career. Reflecting on his journey, he noted, "In my 20s, when I was doing well, I thought I would act until my early 30s. But now, the landscape has changed. I feel like I'm drifting further from the center, and I wonder if I can maintain my position for another ten years."
As the drinks flowed, Kwon shared, "This is something I’ve never talked about before. My father passed away from liver cancer at a young age, and I found out I have a hemangioma on my liver. If it grows larger than 10 centimeters, I would need surgery. The doctor advised me to remove it when it reaches 6 centimeters."
He continued, "Since my wife and kids are all in the U.S., I thought it was no big deal and decided to go ahead with the surgery before filming 'Hitman 2.'" His co-stars, Lee Yi-kyung and Hwang Woo-seul-hye, were taken aback, expressing their surprise that they had no idea about his health issues.
