Kwak Si-yang Wins Best Actor at 2024 SBS Drama Awards

On December 21, 2024, actor Kwak Si-yang made a memorable appearance at the 2024 SBS Drama Awards held at the SBS Prism Tower in Sangam-dong, Seoul, hosted by Shin Dong-yup, Kim Hye-yoon, and Kim Ji-yeon (Bona). Kwak Si-yang was honored with the Best Actor award in the mini-series genre/action category for his performances in '재벌X형사' (The Chaebol's Detective) and '굿파트너' (Good Partner).

Expressing his surprise at receiving the award, he stated, "I didn't think I would win. My debut was with SBS," and he extended his gratitude to the production team. He also thanked his co-stars, saying, "I am so grateful to my beloved An Bo-hyun, (Park) Ji-hyun, (Kim) Shin-bi, and (Kang) Sang-jun. It seems I was able to enjoy this because of all of you. Thank you to my parents and sisters as well. And to the viewers, thank you very much. Always be happy and loved. Merry Christmas and may you have a prosperous New Year."

In a heartfelt moment, he added, "Since I’m here, I’ll bow deeply," and performed a deep bow on stage, eliciting cheers from the audience. He concluded with, "I wish you happiness, health, and thank you for not being sick."

The Best Actress award in the mini-series genre/action category went to Park Ji-hyun for her role in '재벌X형사' (The Chaebol's Detective). She expressed her gratitude, saying, "The character I played was a challenging one that I had never attempted before, and I was both excited and nervous. I am thankful to director Kim Jae-hong for trusting me and to writer Kim Ba-da for the wonderful script. I couldn’t have done it without my colleagues, including Si-yang oppa from the Strong Crime Unit. I especially want to thank Jin Yi-soo and Bo-hyun oppa, who supported me when I was struggling on set. I sincerely appreciate it."

She also acknowledged the staff who took care of her during filming and expressed her gratitude to her agency family. "Acting has always been a joy for me, but taking on my first lead role in this drama made me feel the weight of responsibility. I will strive to be an actor who can bear that weight while enjoying the craft. I am very thankful to my family for always supporting and encouraging me to become a better actor."
