Korean Star Gu Jun-yeop Returns to Taiwan with Late Wife's Remains

Gu Jun-yeop, a member of the Korean duo Clon, returned to Taiwan with the remains of his late wife, Taiwanese actress and top star, Shih Yuan (서희원), who passed away due to pneumonia complications. Upon arrival at Taipei Songshan Airport on February 6, 2025, Gu requested that the media shield his wife's remains with umbrellas to prevent her from being startled by the attention. Despite wearing a hat and mask, his sorrowful eyes were evident.

Shih Yuan, who was 48 years old, died on February 2 while traveling in Japan with her family. Reports suggest that she suffered from pneumonia as a complication of the flu, and there are mentions of sepsis as well.

The family has decided not to hold a funeral, respecting Shih Yuan's quiet and humble nature. Her sister, Shih Hsi-chieh, stated, 'She has safely returned home. I believe she is happy in heaven, free from worries. We will not hold a farewell ceremony for her. She was always a humble person. Please keep her in your hearts. Our family is grateful for your love for Shih Yuan.'

In her lifetime, Shih Yuan had once faced a near-death experience during childbirth, after which she expressed to friends that her ideal farewell would be a joyful gathering filled with her favorite champagne and delicious food, adding, 'Do not cry.'

Shih Yuan was previously married to Chinese businessman Wang Sobi, with whom she had a son and daughter. They divorced after ten years of marriage in 2021. In 2022, she announced her marriage to Gu Jun-yeop, reuniting after two decades and receiving blessings from many. Tragically, just before their third wedding anniversary, they faced this heartbreaking separation.
