Korean Entertainment Community Pauses Content in Mourning for Jeju Air Tragedy

In light of the tragic Jeju Air incident, which resulted in a national mourning period declared until January 4, various YouTube web entertainment programs have postponed their uploads to honor the victims. On December 29, Shin Dong-yup announced via the community page of his YouTube show, 짠한형 신동엽 (Sad Brother Shin Dong-yup), that the episode scheduled for December 30 would be put on hold as a gesture of mourning. Guests Park Na-rae and Yang Se-hyung were set to appear in the episode.

Similarly, broadcaster Kim Na-young expressed her shock over the news of the accident on her channel, 노필터티비 (No Filter TV), stating, "I was deeply saddened to hear about the tragic loss of life. The video planned for today will be postponed as we all navigate this difficult time together. I hope to return soon."

Comedian Lee Young-ja also delayed her content release, while travel creator Pani Bottle shared his grief after waking up to the news of the accident at Muan International Airport. He stated, "As someone who frequently travels by plane, I cannot express how devastated I feel. I pray for the souls of the deceased and hope for a swift resolution to the situation. The upload of my final video from the Philippines trip will also be postponed."

The mourning continued on December 30, with the YouTube channel 워크맨 (Workman), featuring Jang Sung-kyu and Nmix's Haewon, announcing a temporary pause on their scheduled content. They expressed their condolences and solidarity during the national mourning period.

Additionally, 유재석's (Yoo Jae-suk) web show 핑계고 (Excuse Me) has also postponed its new year content release. The channel 뜬뜬 (Tteun Tteun) stated, "We extend our deepest condolences to the families of the victims and will be rescheduling the upload of '핑계고 EP.64' to January 8 at noon. We appreciate your understanding during this time of mourning."

The tragic incident occurred on December 29 at 9:03 AM when Jeju Air flight 7C2216, arriving from Bangkok, attempted to land at Muan International Airport but collided with a fence. The aircraft was severely damaged, with most of it catching fire, resulting in 179 fatalities and 2 survivors.

In response to this tragedy, the government has declared a national mourning period from December 29 to January 4, leading to the suspension of various programs and web entertainment uploads across platforms.
