Korean Celebrities Unite to Support Victims of Muan Airport Tragedy

Following the tragic accident at Muan International Airport on December 29, where a Jeju Air flight from Bangkok crashed while attempting to land, several celebrities have stepped up to offer their support. The incident resulted in the loss of 179 lives, with only 2 survivors. Comedian 박나래 (Park Na-rae) was among the first to respond, not only expressing her condolences on social media but also donating funds to assist the victims' families. A representative for 박나래 confirmed that she has made a contribution to support those affected by the disaster, reflecting her deep connection to the region, having grown up in nearby Mokpo.

Actor 임시완 (Im Si-wan) also made headlines for his generous donation to the Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association on December 31. He expressed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, stating, "I extend my deepest sympathies and comfort to those who have lost their loved ones in this unexpected tragedy."

Additionally, singer 딘딘 (DinDin) contributed 10 million won to the Korean Red Cross, sharing his thoughts on social media. He mentioned that this year, instead of the usual messages of hope and gratitude, he felt a heavy heart due to the tragedy. He expressed his hope that his contribution could provide some assistance during this difficult time and offered his condolences to the families of the deceased.

The public has responded positively to these acts of kindness, with many netizens commenting on the warmth of these donations during such a challenging time. The government has declared a national mourning period until January 4, 2025, at midnight.
