Korean Celebrities Mourn Victims of Jeju Air Tragedy

In the wake of the tragic accident involving a Jeju Air flight at Muan International Airport, many stars have expressed their condolences by sharing images of white chrysanthemums. On the morning of December 29, Jeju Air flight 7C2216, arriving from Bangkok, Thailand, attempted to land but veered off the runway, colliding with the airport's perimeter wall. This devastating incident resulted in the deaths of 179 passengers, with only two crew members rescued.

As news of the tragedy spread, the entertainment industry entered a period of mourning. Major broadcasting networks canceled scheduled entertainment programs, and MBC even called off the '2024 MBC Entertainment Awards' that was set to take place that afternoon.

Celebrities took to their personal channels and social media to pay tribute to the victims. G-Dragon (지드래곤) shared an image of a daisy, his signature flower, along with a yellow ribbon on his social media. Comedian Park Myung-soo (박명수) posted a photo of white chrysanthemums with a message expressing his condolences, while fellow comedian Park Na-rae (박나래) also shared a similar tribute.

Comedian Song Eun-i (송은이) posted a photo of the sky, expressing her sorrow and praying for comfort for the victims' families. Former announcer Jo Woo-jong (조우종) shared his grief, stating that he could not shake the feeling of loss and extended his deepest sympathies to the victims and their families.

Actress Go So-young (고소영) also shared a photo of chrysanthemums with a message of condolence. Other stars, including Rain (비), Brian (브라이언), and actress So Yoo-jin (소유진), joined in mourning the victims.

Singer Harim (하림) posted a photo of a single chrysanthemum, offering heartfelt condolences to the families who lost loved ones in this sudden tragedy. He expressed his hope that such incidents would never happen again and wished for peace for the victims.

Broadcasters Kim Na-young (김나영) and Lee Young-ja (이영자) postponed their scheduled YouTube content releases. Kim Na-young shared her shock over the news of the Jeju Air accident on her YouTube channel, stating that her heart was heavy with the loss of so many lives. She emphasized the importance of taking a moment to share in the collective grief and sincerely wished for the victims' peace.
