Korean Baseball Legend Park Chan-ho and BTS's Suga Become Shareholders of Oakland Athletics

Korean baseball icon Park Chan-ho and Suga from BTS (방탄소년단) are set to become shareholders of the Oakland Athletics, a Major League Baseball (MLB) team. According to investment banking sources on July 4, 2025, a consortium led by Park's sports management company, Team61, plans to invest approximately $70 million (around 95.5 billion KRW) into the Athletics. This funding will be directed towards relocating the team and constructing a new home stadium.

Suga is reportedly joining Park in this venture, with the consortium aiming to acquire about 2-3% equity by purchasing newly issued shares from the Athletics in a private equity format. The consortium is currently awaiting official approval from the MLB.

The Oakland Athletics, based in Oakland, California, is a storied professional baseball team that competes in the American League West division of MLB. The team is well-known for its data-driven management style, famously depicted in the film 'Moneyball.'

With all BTS members having completed their military service, this investment opens up potential collaboration opportunities between BTS and the Athletics.
