Koo Seung-hwan Addresses Rumors of Wealth on 'You Quiz on the Block'

On the February 5 episode of tvN's You Quiz on the Block (유 퀴즈 온 더 블럭), actor Koo Seung-hwan, who is experiencing a career resurgence after 20 years in the industry, actively clarified rumors regarding his family's wealth.

During the 'Life Turnaround' special, Koo shared the story of how he met his beloved dog, Kkotbuni, stating, "Kkotbuni is like my other half. I initially couldn't keep her due to a friend's dog allergy, but after a night of drinking, I impulsively said, 'I'll take care of her.' The next morning, I woke up to find her sleeping by my ankle. I still vividly remember how she followed me around, and that night she snuggled into my blanket."

He expressed deep affection for Kkotbuni, calling her his 'blessing' and reminisced about the bond they share.

Koo also reflected on his 20 years of perseverance in the entertainment industry, stating, "It's not easy to endure this long. Younger colleagues often ask how I managed to hold on. I tell them I never really endured; I just enjoyed each day. If I had to endure, I don't think I could have lasted this long. As I grow older, I aim to live without envy, jealousy, or greed."

In response to the rumors about being the son of a wealthy family, Koo clarified, "There have been misunderstandings about my background. Some comments claimed my father owns four buildings, including the one where Joo Seung-woo lived. In reality, my father worked at a small company and, after a lifetime of hard work, owns a modest villa in Cheonho-dong. I can't understand why the show portrayed my home differently; it's only 18 pyeong."
