Koo Jun-yup Bids Farewell to Seo Hee-won in Heartfelt Ceremony
On March 15, it was reported by Taiwan's Yiping News that Koo Jun-yup (구준엽) and Seo Hee-won's (서희원) family gathered in heavy rain to say their final goodbyes. The family held a farewell ceremony as they prepared to inter Seo Hee-won's remains at Geumbosan Mountain. Only immediate family members, including Koo Jun-yup, their two children, Seo Hee-je (서희제), and Seo Hee-won's mother attended the ceremony, while her colleagues and ex-husband Wang Su-bi (왕소비) were not invited.
Following the ceremony, Seo Hee-won's mother expressed her anger on social media, stating, "Imagine how it feels to be abused for ten years. It's so arrogant." Many netizens speculated that her comments were directed at her daughter’s former mother-in-law, Zhang Lan (장란), who had recently made controversial statements online.
Koo Jun-yup and Seo Hee-won reunited and married in 2022 after being apart for 20 years. Tragically, Seo Hee-won passed away from acute pneumonia during a trip to Japan on February 2. Koo Jun-yup was reported to be in a severe state of shock, losing 6 kg in a month due to his grief.
There were initial concerns regarding disputes over Seo Hee-won's estate, but it has been agreed that Koo Jun-yup and their children will each inherit one-third of her assets. Koo Jun-yup has stated that he will relinquish his rights to the inheritance to his mother-in-law and will take legal measures to protect his children's rights from any negative influences.
Seo Hee-won was previously married to Chinese businessman Wang Su-bi in 2011, with whom she had a son and a daughter, but they divorced in 2021. Following their separation, Wang Su-bi and his mother Zhang Lan were involved in various rumors about Seo Hee-won and Koo Jun-yup, which led to legal action against them. Seo Hee-won also filed a lawsuit against Wang Su-bi for failing to provide promised child support and living expenses after their divorce. Wang Su-bi has reportedly delayed attending court proceedings and is said to owe significant debts related to a luxury apartment in Taiwan where Seo Hee-won lived before her passing.
