Koo Bon-seung Reveals 17-Year Solo Stint on 'Can We Love Now?'

Koo Bon-seung surprised viewers by revealing that he has been single for 17 years during the November 25 episode of tvN STORY's 'Can We Love Now?' (이젠 사랑할 수 있을까?).

In the episode, host Park So-hyun introduced Koo Bon-seung as a friend who has also experienced a long period of being single. She humorously noted, "I have about 100 people like me around, and I definitely need to introduce you to this person who is just as single as I am."

When asked about his relationship status, Koo Bon-seung jokingly requested paper and a pen, indicating he was ready to sign up for a matchmaking service. The representative from the matchmaking agency inquired about how long he had been single, to which Koo Bon-seung hesitated before responding, "It’s been 17 years," leaving everyone astonished.

He explained that his long absence from dating stemmed from starting his career in broadcasting in his early twenties, which made him more selective about the people he interacts with. Koo Bon-seung shared, "I tend to be cautious about relationships. I’m careful when it comes to meeting new people," highlighting his reserved nature.

Koo Bon-seung first gained attention in 2002 for his role in the film 'The Magic Castle' (마법의 성), where he starred alongside actress Kang Ye-won in a controversial scene. However, the film did not perform well at the box office, leading to a nearly decade-long hiatus from the industry.
