Kim Woo-seok Joins Cast of New SBS Drama 'Doctor X: The Era of the White Mafia'

Actor Kim Woo-seok (김우석) is set to star in the new SBS drama 'Doctor X: The Era of the White Mafia' (닥터X:하얀 마피아의 시대). According to reports on July 26, 2025, Kim has positively considered the casting offer and has decided to take on the role.
'Doctor X: The Era of the White Mafia' is a medical noir series that follows the character Kye Soo-jung (계수정), who uses her exceptional surgical skills to confront the injustices of reality. The drama is written by writer Pyeon Seong-geun (편성근) and directed by Lee Jeong-rim (이정림), with production by Studio Dragon and Studio S.
In the series, Kim Woo-seok will portray the male lead, intern Park Tae-kyung (박태경). This marks his return to television after a three-year hiatus since his last appearance in the 2022 MBC drama 'Forbidden Marriage' (금혼령, 조선 혼인 금지령).
Notably, Kim will be acting alongside Kim Ji-won (김지원), who plays the lead role of Kye Soo-jung. Kim Ji-won is known for her role in 'Queen of Tears' (눈물의 여왕), which achieved record-breaking viewership ratings on tvN. In this new drama, she will portray a genius surgeon with a dark past.
Kim Woo-seok made his debut in 2017 with the web drama 'Love Playlist' (연애플레이리스트) Season 2. He gained recognition through his roles in 'Voice 2' and 'Voice 3', and has also appeared in dramas such as 'Military Prosecutor Doberman' (군검사 도베르만), 'You and My Police Class' (너와 나의 경찰수럽), 'Youth Monthly' (청춘월담), and 'Beneficial Fraud' (이로운 사기). He is also the younger brother of singer Kim Min-seok (김민석) from the duo MeloMance.
Filming for 'Doctor X: The Era of the White Mafia' is set to begin in the second half of this year, with the drama scheduled to air next year.
