Kim Tae-won's Visa Application Denied Amid Family Crisis on 'Joseon's Love Fool'

In the latest episode of TV Chosun's variety show 'Joseon's Love Fool' (조선의 사랑꾼), Kim Tae-won faced a challenging situation as his application for a U.S. visa was denied. The episode aired on March 17, 2025, and highlighted a critical moment in Kim's life.

The episode began with discussions about his daughter's upcoming wedding. Kim reached out to his daughter to inquire about the Korean ceremony, but she revealed that her boyfriend's mother had suffered a sudden health crisis due to a stroke, preventing them from attending the wedding in Korea.

In a heartfelt conversation, his daughter suggested, "What if you try to come to New York? I don't know if it's possible, but it would be great if you could make it, Dad." Kim responded, expressing his frustration over the visa issues, stating, "I want to go to my daughter's wedding, but the visa situation is tough. I believe it will work out somehow."

This predicament stemmed from Kim's previous visa denial, linked to two past incidents in 1987 and 1991 involving marijuana use. He expressed his feelings of helplessness, saying, "It's a difficult situation; it would be rude to force myself into a situation with a stroke patient. If I could, I would love to go to my daughter's wedding, but it's uncertain." He mentioned that he had been denied a performance visa a year ago.

However, Kim had not yet applied for a travel visa, leaving room for hope. The production team suggested applying online, and with the help of a U.S.-born producer, they accessed the application. A notable moment occurred when Kim's passport photo, showing him without sunglasses, was revealed.

As he filled out the application, he encountered questions about past drug-related offenses and previous visa denials. Kim answered honestly, acknowledging his past with a simple "yes". After an hour, he submitted his visa application, but three days later, he received news that his application was denied due to two negative responses.

Kim expressed his disappointment, stating, "I don't know the reason for the denial, so I need a lawyer. It's upsetting because I want to see my daughter, but there's nothing I can do."
