Kim Sung-kyun Shows Family-Oriented Side on 'I Live Alone'

In the latest episode of MBC's reality show 'I Live Alone' (나 혼자 산다), aired on February 7, actor Kim Sung-kyun showcased his family-oriented nature. The episode featured Go Joon preparing for a fashion show runway, while Kim Sung-kyun visited his home. The two actors, who became friends through their work in 'Hot Blooded Priest' (열혈사제), shared a light-hearted moment as Go Joon revealed that Kim Sung-kyun is actually three years younger than him, born in 1980.

During the show, Jeon Hyun-moo inquired if Kim Sung-kyun was married during the filming of 'The Drug King' (범죄와의 전쟁), to which Go Joon confirmed that Kim Sung-kyun got married in his twenties and is known for being a warm and caring father.

Kim Sung-kyun surprised everyone by gifting homemade kimchi to Go Joon, explaining that he makes it every year with his wife and daughter. Go Joon praised Kim Sung-kyun's cooking skills, noting that he was a cook in the military. After tasting the kimchi, Go Joon remarked that it tasted like fresh aged kimchi, prompting Kim Sung-kyun to jokingly consider starting a kimchi business.

Curious about the origin of the kimchi, Go Joon mentioned that Kim Sung-kyun selects recipes from YouTube each year and had added a lot of minced shrimp this time. However, when Kim Sung-kyun planned to cook with the kimchi, he was shocked to find that Go Joon's kitchen lacked basic ingredients like gochujang (고추장) and sugar. This led them to venture out to a grocery store, where Kim Sung-kyun expressed excitement about the 'smell of Seoul.'

It was revealed that Kim Sung-kyun lives in Yangpyeong with his family and commutes to Seoul for work. Go Joon commented on Kim Sung-kyun's busy life, mentioning that he often repairs fences and tends to his garden at home, leaving him little time to relax.

At the grocery store, Kim Sung-kyun contemplated what ingredients would pair well with the kimchi, deciding to make boiled pork and kimchi stir-fry. Jeon Hyun-moo humorously noted that a military cook would excel at making stir-fry for large groups. Kim Sung-kyun quickly selected the necessary ingredients. When asked if he cooks at home, Kim Sung-kyun shared that both he and his wife enjoy cooking, with him specializing in soups and stews while his wife excels at side dishes.
