Kim Sung-kyun Reveals Family and Acting Stories on 'Jeon Hyun-moo's Plan 2'

In the latest episode of Jeon Hyun-moo's Plan 2 (전현무계획2), aired on May 30, 2025, actor Kim Sung-kyun showcased his charmingly innocent side while discussing family and his acting career during a food trip in Gangwon Province with Jeon Hyun-moo and Kwak Tube (곽튜브). The trio embarked on a culinary adventure, sampling a variety of local delicacies, including a renowned beef soup restaurant with a 35-year history, a famous galbi (grilled ribs) spot in Gangneung, and a seafood tavern in Samcheok.

Upon arriving in Gangneung, Jeon Hyun-moo shared insights from local residents about a street known for its beef head soup. He teased that Kim Sung-kyun, their new food companion, would be even more impressive than last week's guest, Jin Seo-yeon. After a warm greeting, they decided to visit the beef head soup alley, where Kim expressed his love for hangover soup. Kwak Tube noted that Kim resembled his character from the hit drama Reply 1988, which helped ease the atmosphere.

The trio chose a highly recommended soup restaurant and enjoyed the beef brisket and soup, with Jeon reminiscing about their first meeting at the premiere of the film The Drug King. Kim shared that he was a rookie at the time, having landed the role through auditions. Jeon praised Kim for winning a rookie award for his performance, recalling how the audience stood in applause at the end of the screening.

As they continued their food journey, Jeon Hyun-moo mentioned that while seafood is often associated with Gangwon Province, the area is also known for its excellent meat dishes. During their walk, Kim revealed that he frequently traveled to Gangwon with his family, showcasing his warm family man persona. When asked if his children bragged about him, Kim humorously replied, "Not really," causing laughter among the group. Jeon joked about the types of roles he has taken on, while Kim noted that many actor wives tend to watch different dramas at the same time.

Later, they arrived at a traditional galbi restaurant, where they ordered the signature grilled ribs. The table was filled with a variety of side dishes, and Kim was genuinely impressed by the quality of the food. As the meat was served, he eagerly reached for it, but Jeon looked on skeptically. Kim reassured him that the juices wouldn't escape, while Kwak Tube admitted to feeling a bit intimidated by Kim's confidence. Jeon complimented Kim's acting skills, noting how he can switch from a friendly demeanor to a psychopathic character seamlessly, which led to more laughter when Kwak jokingly asked if Kim would play a murderer in his next project.

After a satisfying meal, Jeon Hyun-moo and Kwak Tube headed to a local tavern in Samcheok as night fell. Jeon introduced the last dish of the day, octopus, from a beloved neighborhood spot. They ordered boiled octopus and sea snail, with Kwak Tube marveling at the size of the octopus legs, likening them to a kraken. Jeon found the dish incredibly tender, while Kwak Tube was astonished by the freshness of the sea snail, declaring that he would remember Gangwon for its fresh ingredients in the future.
