Kim Soo-hyun Responds to Allegations of Relationship with Late Kim Sae-ron
On March 31, actor Kim Soo-hyun held an urgent press conference at the Stanford Hotel in Mapo-gu, Seoul, addressing various controversies, including allegations that he had been in a relationship with the late Kim Sae-ron while she was still a minor. Kim Soo-hyun's agency, Gold Medalist, expressed serious concerns on May 7 regarding the announcement of a second press conference by Kim Sae-ron's family, stating, "We are deeply worried about the dissemination of false information."
The agency continued, "We earnestly request that no unjust harm arises from the spread and reproduction of unverified claims."
The YouTube channel Garoseoro Research Institute (가로세로연구소) had previously announced that a press conference would be held by Kim Sae-ron's legal representative, attorney Bu Ji-seok, and Kim Sae-ron's family. They stated, "Tomorrow (May 7) at 2 PM, there will be a press conference revealing 'Kim Soo-hyun's serious crimes.' This matter is extremely serious, and you will understand once you see the content of the press conference," adding that attendance from media outlets other than their own would not be permitted.
In March, Garoseoro claimed that Kim Soo-hyun had been in a relationship with Kim Sae-ron since she was a minor. On March 27, Kim Sae-ron's family held a press conference where they revealed KakaoTalk messages exchanged between Kim Sae-ron and Kim Soo-hyun in 2016, when she was a minor. The messages included expressions of affection such as "I miss you" and "I want to hug you," along with heart emojis.
In response, Kim Soo-hyun held his own press conference on March 31, asserting that he only began dating Kim Sae-ron after she turned 18, around 2019, and that their relationship lasted for about a year. He has since filed lawsuits against Kim Sae-ron's family, a friend known as 'Kim Sae-ron's aunt,' and Garoseoro for violations of the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, as well as defamation. Additionally, he has initiated a lawsuit seeking 12 billion KRW against the family and has reported them for violations of the Stalking Punishment Act.
