Kim Soo-hyun Under Investigation for Alleged Underage Relationship with Kim Sae-ron

Actor Kim Soo-hyun is currently under investigation by police regarding allegations that he was in a relationship with the late Kim Sae-ron during her underage years. As of May 19, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency reported that there are ten ongoing legal cases related to this matter, with seven being investigated by the Gangnam Police Station and three by the Seodaemun Police Station. These cases include seven complaints filed by Kim Soo-hyun's side and three from Kim Sae-ron's representatives.

The police revealed that the allegations of violating child welfare laws against Kim Soo-hyun are being handled by the Gangnam Police's Women and Youth Violent Crimes Unit, while the complaints regarding AI manipulation claims made by Kim Soo-hyun's team are being investigated by the Gangnam Police's Investigation Division.

Additionally, a public interest report concerning Kim Sae-ron's legal representative, attorney Bu Ji-seok from the law firm Buiyu, has been assigned to the Gangnam Police's Investigation Division. Furthermore, Kim Sae-ron's side has filed a defamation complaint against YouTuber Lee Jin-ho, which is currently under investigation by the Seodaemun Police Station. However, no police inquiries have been conducted regarding these matters yet.

The family of the late Kim Sae-ron claims that Kim Soo-hyun had been in a relationship with her since her underage years and allegedly pressured her to repay debts during her lifetime. In response, Kim Soo-hyun's team has labeled these claims as "completely false" and has filed a lawsuit seeking approximately 12 billion KRW in damages against the family and the media outlet Gaseyeon.

In a press conference, Gaseyeon alleged that an informant, referred to as A, who spoke about Kim Sae-ron's underage relationship, was attacked by an assailant in New Jersey on May 1. They claimed that A was stabbed nine times in the neck and was hospitalized, with the assailant being apprehended. However, A later changed their statement in a video, claiming to have injured their arm, and the medical report indicated injuries to the right shoulder and left hand, raising doubts about the credibility of the claims.

Kim Soo-hyun's team has strongly countered these allegations, asserting that the audio recordings from A appear to be manipulated by AI and that the images related to the attack are widely circulated online. They accused Gaseyeon and the informant of fabricating a non-existent incident to defame Kim Soo-hyun.

In relation to this case, the Consulate General of the United States in New York stated that there have been no reports of any of its citizens being arrested for attempted murder or related crimes against overseas nationals in their jurisdiction, and they have not received any notifications from local law enforcement regarding this incident. The outcome of this situation remains to be seen.
