Kim Soo-hyun Faces Controversy Amid Allegations of Past Relationship with Late Kim Sae-ron

On March 27, a press conference was held in Seoul's Seocho-dong regarding the late actress Kim Sae-ron, where her family presented evidence suggesting that she had been in a relationship with actor Kim Soo-hyun since her teenage years. During the event, attorney Bu Ji-seok, representing Kim Sae-ron's family, revealed past messenger conversations between the two, including messages from Kim Soo-hyun in 2016 where he expressed feelings such as 'I miss you' and 'When can I fall asleep holding you?' At that time, Kim Sae-ron was just 17 years old.

Additionally, a letter that Kim Sae-ron intended to send to Kim Soo-hyun after her DUI incident was disclosed. In the letter, she expressed her deep feelings, stating, 'We've been together for about 5-6 years,' and 'I hope you don't avoid me as you are my first and last love.' She also mentioned her intention not to interfere in his life and wished him happiness in his future endeavors.

Furthermore, a video allegedly sent by Kim Soo-hyun to Kim Sae-ron around 2019 was shared, showing him in front of a lingerie shop in Paris, which raised eyebrows due to its suggestive content.

Currently, Kim Soo-hyun is facing significant backlash, with the release of his new Disney+ series 'Knock Off' indefinitely postponed, and he is expected to be heavily edited out of MBC's 'Good Day.' His fan meeting scheduled for March 31 in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, has also been canceled. Major brands like Prada, Homeplus, and Shinhan Bank have decided to terminate their advertising contracts with him, while Tous Les Jours has indicated it will not renew its contract.

The financial implications of this controversy are severe, with estimates suggesting that Kim Soo-hyun could face penalties amounting to 20 billion KRW due to breach of contract, as he reportedly earns between 700 million to 1 billion KRW per brand annually. The penalty for the 'Knock Off' series could be even more staggering, potentially reaching 180 billion KRW if the production is scrapped due to personal issues.
