Kim Seok-hoon Returns to Drama After 10 Years in 'Eun-ae Haneun Dojeoknim-a'

Kim Seok-hoon, affectionately known as 'Trash Uncle' (쓰저씨) and endorsed by the beloved MC Yoo Jae-suk, is making his long-awaited return to the small screen in the new KBS 2TV drama 'Eun-ae Haneun Dojeoknim-a' after a decade away from acting.

On February 26, it was reported that Kim Seok-hoon will play the role of the father to the female lead, Hong Eun-jo (played by Nam Ji-hyun), in this upcoming drama. 'Eun-ae Haneun Dojeoknim-a' is a fusion historical romantic comedy that tells the story of a woman who accidentally becomes a thief and the spirit of a nobleman from the Joseon era who pursues her, leading to a soul exchange that allows them to save and protect each other. The script, written by Lee Sun, won an excellence award at the 2nd Drama Script Contest held by Studio Dragon in 2020.

The drama stars rising actors Moon Sang-min and Nam Ji-hyun as the main leads, both of whom have received acclaim for their performances in historical dramas, with Moon Sang-min known for 'Shuroop' and Nam Ji-hyun for '100 Days My Prince.'

In this narrative, Kim Seok-hoon portrays Hong Eun-jo's father, a nobleman, while his daughter is known as the 'female Hong Gil-dong,' a character that resonates with Kim's past role as Hong Gil-dong in the SBS drama of the same name.

This marks Kim Seok-hoon's first drama appearance since the MBC series 'Mom,' which concluded in 2016. During his hiatus from acting, he has been active as a storyteller on SBS's 'Curious Story Y' and gained popularity through his YouTube content as 'Trash Uncle,' focusing on environmental issues.

His persona as 'Trash Uncle' has garnered him a new level of fame, leading to appearances on MBC's variety show 'How Do You Play?' where he formed a close friendship with Yoo Jae-suk. This connection even led to his guest appearance on Yoo Jae-suk's YouTube series 'Pinggye-go.'

Fans are eager to see if Kim Seok-hoon can surpass his previous roles as he returns to the drama scene. A representative from his agency, Mystic Story, confirmed to OSEN that Kim Seok-hoon has received an offer to join the cast of 'Eun-ae Haneun Dojeoknim-a' and is currently considering it positively.
